Key Checks Before a Long Trip

Even if you use your beloved motorcycle daily without issues, embarking on a long-distance trip requires special attention to specific areas. Long-distance travel involves greater distances and potentially challenging road conditions or situations that differ significantly from your usual commute.

CAMEL TIRE presents a "6-Point Checklist Before a Long Trip" to ensure you are fully prepared and safe throughout your journey.
  1. Tires and Tire Pressure : Check the tire condition, ensure they are in good shape and not nearing the end of their lifespan and inflate them to the correct pressure.
  2. Braking System and Engine Oil : Check that the engine oil level is adequate and inspect the brake pads to ensure they still have sufficient thickness.
  3. Lighting System : Check all lights headlight, high beam, turn signals, and brake light—to ensure they are all functioning clearly.
  4. Chain or Belt : For manual/geared bikes, adjust the chain tension and apply lubricant. For automatic scooters, if the belt is nearing its service interval, replace it before the trip.
  5. Bolts and Mounting Points : Inspect wheel nuts, kickstand bolts, and luggage rack mounts to ensure everything is securely tightened.
  6. Emergency Tool Kit : Always carry a screwdriver, basic wrenches, and a tire plug kit (plugging tool and strips) for emergency tire repairs.

In addition to checking the vehicle, don't forget to ensure you have all **essential documents** ready.
Have your driver's license and a copy of the vehicle registration book on hand, and check the expiration dates for your Compulsory Motor Insurance (CMI) and annual road tax. Being prepared ensures you can continue your journey without interruption in case of an emergency or a police checkpoint.
